Axiomatic Probability and the Addition Theorem

The formal rules of probability, and how to find the probability of one event or another occurring.

Axioms of Probability

For any event $E$: $0 \leq P(E) \leq 1$, and $P(\text{Sample Space}) = 1$.

Addition Theorem

For any two events $A$ and $B$:

$$P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A \cap B)$$
