Operations on Sets

The main ways two or more sets can be combined or compared.

Union and Intersection

The union $A \cup B$ contains all elements in $A$ or $B$ (or both). The intersection $A \cap B$ contains only elements common to both.

Difference and Complement

The difference $A - B$ contains elements in $A$ but not in $B$. The complement $A'$ contains all elements of the universal set not in $A$.

Venn Diagrams

A visual way of representing sets and their relationships using overlapping circles.
