Parabola, Ellipse and Hyperbola
The three other conic sections, formed by slicing a cone at different angles.
Parabola
The standard form $y^2 = 4ax$ describes a parabola opening along the x-axis.
Ellipse
The standard form is:
$$\frac{x^2}{a^2} + \frac{y^2}{b^2} = 1$$Hyperbola
The standard form is:
