Buffer Solutions and Solubility Equilibrium

Solutions that resist pH change, and equilibrium in sparingly soluble salts.

Buffer Solutions

A buffer solution resists changes in pH when small amounts of acid or base are added — typically made from a weak acid and its conjugate base (or vice versa).

Solubility Product (Ksp)

For a sparingly soluble salt, the solubility product is the equilibrium constant for its dissolution, used to predict whether a precipitate will form.
