Electrochemical Cells and EMF
How a chemical reaction can be used to generate electricity.
Galvanic Cells
A galvanic (voltaic) cell converts chemical energy into electrical energy through a spontaneous redox reaction, occurring in two separate half-cells connected by a salt bridge.
Standard Electrode Potential and EMF
The EMF of a cell is the potential difference between its two electrodes, calculated from their standard electrode potentials.
