Glycolysis
The breakdown of glucose into pyruvate, occurring in the cytoplasm.
Krebs Cycle
Occurs in the mitochondria; further breaks down the products of glycolysis, releasing carbon dioxide and generating energy carriers.
Electron Transport Chain
Uses the energy carriers produced earlier to generate the majority of the cell's ATP.
