Mitosis and Meiosis
The two ways a cell can divide, and why each is important.
Cell Cycle
Consists of Interphase (growth and DNA replication) followed by the actual division (M phase).
Mitosis
Produces two genetically identical daughter cells — responsible for growth and repair in the body.
Meiosis
Produces four genetically distinct daughter cells with half the chromosome number — occurs during the formation of gametes (sex cells).
