The Dark Reactions (Calvin Cycle)
How captured energy is used to build sugar molecules from carbon dioxide.
Dark Reactions
Occur in the stroma of the chloroplast. The ATP and NADPH generated during the light reactions are used to fix carbon dioxide into sugar, through a series of steps known as the Calvin Cycle.
Note: "Dark reactions" does not mean they only happen in darkness — they depend on the products of the light reactions, not on light itself.
