Using a diode's one-way behaviour to convert AC into DC.
Rectification
A rectifier uses one or more diodes to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC).

|---|---|
| Half-Wave Rectifier | Uses one diode; passes only one half of the AC cycle |
| Full-Wave Rectifier | Uses two or more diodes; utilises both halves of the AC cycle |
