Displacement Current and EM Wave Basics

The missing piece that completed the theory of electromagnetism.

Displacement Current

Maxwell showed that a changing electric field also produces a magnetic effect, just like a real current does — this is called displacement current.

Electromagnetic Waves

An electromagnetic wave consists of oscillating electric and magnetic fields, perpendicular to each other and to the direction of wave propagation. EM waves can travel through a vacuum, unlike mechanical waves.
