Thermal Equilibrium and the Zeroth Law

Two systems are in thermal equilibrium when no net heat flows between them — they are at the same temperature. The Zeroth Law states that if two systems are each in equilibrium with a third, they are in equilibrium with each other.

First Law of Thermodynamics

ΔQ = ΔU + ΔW

Heat supplied to a system equals the increase in its internal energy plus the work done by the system — a statement of conservation of energy.
